DRIVEALERT motorMind
ADVANCED LEARNING PROGRAM
Motor Mind is an advanced behaviour-based program that combines elements of gamification with visual, auditory and tactile exercises to boost learning by explaining the science behind dangerous driving scenarios.
Building on the foundation of defensive driver training, DRIVEALERT Motor Mind is an advanced behaviour-based program that uses interactive lessons to deliver memorable and engaging driver training. Here’s how it works…
Step 1: An interactive exercise that is designed to introduce you to a specific driving situation and show the science behind the danger.
Step 2: A short video explaining the dangers of the situation and providing straightforward solutions to avoid a collision.
Step 3: A knowledge assessment designed to ensure you understand the principles of the lesson and can apply them to daily driving.
After you’ve answered the final question of the Knowledge Assessment, you will be presented with your score.
If you have scored too low on the assessment you will be assigned additional training to further improve your knowledge of the topic.
Using interactive activities, MotorMind explains the complexities behind dangers on the road and gives you a better understanding of what is occurring every time you drive.
The training uses the six core competencies to demonstrate the risks of different driving situations. The six core competencies are: Attitude, The Other Motorist, Danger Zones, Scanning, Speed Management, and Space Management.
These core competencies target the root causes of most collisions for focused driver improvement.
Training is divided into six lessons that correspond with each of the six core competencies. Each lesson consists of three steps:
MotorMind Modules
Change Blindness
Drivers can only pay attention to a limited amount of information at one time. This interactive training proves that drivers often miss important details in busy driving situations, and it provides techniques to increase awareness of other road users.
Conflict Points
Intersections contain dozens of points where high-severity incidents are common. This interactive training helps drivers visualise the risks that exist at junctions and provides tips to navigate them safely.
Critical Reactions
At high speeds, drivers can crash before they have time to react to a sudden hazard. This interactive training tests a driver's reaction time and offers strategies to drive safely.
Deviant Drivers
Drivers who deviate from acceptable driving behaviour, such as aggressive drivers, are hazards on the road. This interactive training illustrates how deviant drivers jeopardise road safety, explores why some drivers choose to act recklessly and offers defensive driving techniques to safely manage them.
Dilemma Zone
Drivers may face a difficult decision in a zone before an junction controlled by a traffic light. This interactive training explores this zone, highlights some key factors that influence it, and provides techniques drivers can use to make good decisions near junctions.
Large Trucks
Large trucks handle differently than smaller vehicles and have significant blind spots surrounding them. This interactive training covers the challenges presented by large trucks and provides strategies to drive around them safely.
Microsleeps
Some drivers experience brief sleep episodes on the road without knowing it. This interactive training explores the dangers of these microsleeps, identifies when drivers are most vulnerable to them, and highlights ways to stay alert while driving.
Mirrors
Mirrors are one of the most important tools available to drivers. This interactive training compares two types of mirrors, identifies common adjustment mistakes and provides tips to reverse safely.
Misjudging Space
Accurately judging distance can be difficult for drivers. This interactive training examines spatial judgment, illustrates how driving can influence that judgment and offers tips to manage space wisely in a vehicle.
Misjudging Speed
Accurately judging vehicle speeds can be difficult. This interactive training examines a driver’s speed judgment and helps explain why traveling speed should be assessed with care.
Multitasking
The ability to multitask safely behind the wheel is a myth and distracted driving is a growing problem worldwide. This interactive training illustrates the cognitive limits that make effective multitasking impossible.
Night Vision
A driver’s vision is often compromised at night. This interactive training illustrates some key factors that make driving at night more dangerous than driving during the day.
